Well, last week, I celebrated my 31st birthday, or more accurately, I did not celebrate my 31st birthday!
Since it fell on a Friday this year and I am gainfully employed, I had to work. I spent the day alone at the office since all my co-workers were on assignments at different places in the country. Being alone I did not mind. I've gotten quite used to it. What made me a bit down was the fact that the day before I had awoken with the early symptoms of the flu. I was not sneezing or coughing but I had an itchy throat, chills with slight fever and I sounded nasal. I spent my birthday guzzling down as much Vitamin C as I could possibly get my hands on and flu meds to stem the bug in its tracks.
I spent the weekend doing the same thing so that by Monday, I had almost completely gotten back to "normal". This meant, nothing special at all was done. Belatedly, I got a cake, which as grateful as I was, meant I had to cheat on my diet.
However, again this year, thanks to social networking, I got so many birthday greetings on Facebook from everyone with whom I am connected, that they made me feel special and for that I am extremely grateful. I haven't given up hope. One year, I'm going to have such a fantastic birthday that I would not be able to stop talking about for the entire year! Stay tuned... ;-)
