This Christmas season was not a very memorable one for me. I was busy with work and was just not in the holiday spirit. I still decorated my little tree on the 12th December as usual but I felt like there was nothing to look forward to. Everyone was too busy so I had no companion to even go to the mall to see the decorations.
At work, it was a lot better than at home. Our work Christmas luncheon was enjoyable, as is usually the case when all the co-workers are together. It was buffet-style so I'm afraid I ate too much! Our bosses also surprised us with a gift each, the 23rd December off work and a most generous bonus.
Just when I began to think things may be getting better, the flu decided to make an appearance and I spent the last few days of work struggling and waiting for the holidays so that I could recuperate fully. Celebrating was the last thing on my mind!
Then on Christmas Eve, one person stepped forward and made the effort to make me smile by bringing me a lovely gift and fruit cake. It was such a thoughtful gesture and I appreciated it so much. I had something to look forward to on Christmas morning!
I think I spent the 5 days-off work reflecting on my life most of all. Everything that is good and bad about it. I decided to make some changes and in an effort to do just that, I bought myself a Christmas gift with my bonus, one that will keep on giving to me for, hopefully, years to come.
