A gift of a plant

I started a new job on 11th April 2011 so I'm still on probation, i.e., learning the dos and don'ts and getting acquainted with my new coworkers, where the women on staff outnumber the men 8:3! Anyway, one of the guys on staff decided to give all the ladies who were present at work on Friday, a plant, for no particular reason (or at least, if he had a reason, it's known only to him!..maybe he is just one of those rare really nice guys...hmm). Anyway, this is mines. No idea what it's called but it apparently is some sort of hybrid since you don't usually see one plant with two different colored flowers blooming at the same time (in this case, pink and yellow). I'm off to transplant the little "guy" into a bigger pot and since I haven't been doing any gardening lately, I think I'll have to set a recurring reminder on my phone so that I won't forget to water it! LOL

  1. I think it's called 'lantana'. Pretty but quickly becomes one of those maddening plants that takes over and then you can't get rid of it. Hope your co-worker wasn't sending you a message of some sort. (Nassau, Bahamas)

  2. I think you are right about the name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lantana), it looks exactly like mines. As for it taking over, I won't let it. It'll have to learn to stay in a flower pot; not going to let it loose on the ground. lol
I don't think he was sending me a message since he bought several different types of flowers and told us to choose. But since I am not picky, I let everyone else choose first and just took what was left!
